The Superstar was first released in 1969 and served as a basketball shoe. The Superstar is originally a low-top version of the adidas Pro Model basketball shoe. The sneaker was so popular that it is still made today in many different shapes. The adidas Superstar was nicknamed “Shelltoe”, “Shellshoes” or “Shell Tops”. This was due to the rubber part on the forefoot. This part of the sneaker looked like a shell.

In the last few months, many brands have been making sneakers that are made from recycled material. For example, adidas recently released an UltraBOOST in which a large part of the sneaker was made from waste from the ocean. Now adidas comes with a Superstar where 70% of the upper is made from waste.
The upper of the sneaker has been given an all white makeover with some nice details. What makes the upper special is that it is made of 70% recycled material. On the tongue is not the standard adidas logo, but there is now a logo with the text “THE CLEAN CLASSICS” and “WORLD FAMOUS FOR QUALITY”. Looking at the heel of the sneaker it says “THIS SHOE ALONE WILL NOT SAVE THE PLANET”. The upper of the sneaker rests on a white midsole with different colored speckles as decoration.
The adidas Superstar Vegan will be released on Thursday July 23 at 2020yeezys.com. Check the images below and keep an eye on our release calendar.
